bullet  General Notes:

[ebrezany.ged]

Perhaps, due to George being a generation older than numerous other Hackworths living in Virginia, he is the popularly proposed father of a handful of American Revolutionary War soldiers: however, as of this writing on 7 Apr. 1999, I have no evidence to support this proposed parentage.

Nevertheless, I've grown fond of him and so George is listed here -- until otherwise disproved:

Birth date, about 1720, provided by Burney Parker, Jr.; LDS records gives [1727], indicating about 1727; however, since George's date of marriage to Ann Leftwich in the Parker record is 1742, LDS birth in 1727 would make George only 15 at the time of his marriage. While not impossible, it seems pretty unlikely.

David Kaiser says that George moved from Caroline County, Virginia, to Bedford County sometime after 1749. George underwent limited service in the Bedford County militia during the French and Indian War.

Subject: Hackworth

Looking back in some old notes of mine. I copied these from some books at
the Family History Center, about a couple of years ago.

On the page I have placed up at the top:
III. Richard Hackworth born: 1676.
--------------------------------------------------
IV. Richard Hackworth born: ca 1717-1723.
(Believed to be father of Augustine, etc. (Mrs. Reeder also said, "I had an
old uncle 98 years old who told me Augustine Hackworth's father was
Richard."

Marian's thoughts: Must be another Augustine than the brother born
1746....changed my mind..could be? maybe.
III. Richard born ca 1676 + 98 yrs. old = 1774 when he died?
IV. Richard born 1717 + 98 = 1815 (1723 + 98 = 1831)

Hackworth's believed to be brothers:
William , born; 1732 died 1831, May 23
John , 1743
Augustine, 1746 1846
George, Feb 28, 1752 - 1 May 1783
